Russell Wilson (sprained MCL) was a full practice participant Wednesday, another sign that the team expects him to start Sunday. The following players were limited: WR Tyler Lockett (knee), OL Germain Ifedi (ankle), TE Jimmy Graham (knee), TE Nick Vannett (ankle) and LB Mike Morgan (hip).

C.J. Spiller's most obvious fit with the Seahawks is as their third-down back. They initially drafted C.J. Prosise to have him fill that role, but Prosise has been dealing with a hand injury that will take three more weeks to fully heal, according to Pete Carroll. Alex Collins was the team's third-down back Sunday, but that role does not really fit his skill set.

Michael Fulmer goes for the Tigers tonight and while helping Detroit win the wild card is obviously the top priority, he also has a chance to win the ERA title, but needs 6.1 innings to qualify. With a 2.95 ERA he could become just the fifth qualified rookie starter to finish with a sub-3.00 ERA since 2000 (Jose Fernandez, Brandon Webb, J.A. Happ, Jeremy Hellickson).

Did Urban Meyer see Tim Tebow's home run? "I did," Meyer said with a big smile. "Don't bet against him."

Jets WR Brandon Marshall said improvement in the red zone starts with him and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Marshall noted that he still hasn't scored a TD: "Not a good start to the season if you have me on your fantasy team."

Drew Brees said he can still close his eyes and visualize playing in San Diego 10 years later. He'll make his first trip there Sunday with the Saints and said he still has a lot of great memories. But he'll try to get all the feelings and emotions out of the way before kickoff.

The Dodgers' 30 victories from rookie pitchers are the franchise's most since 1952, when they had 51. Jose De Leon can make it 31 when he starts Wednesday night against the Padres. Dodgers rookies are 30-23 this season in 67 starts, with an impressive 3.61 ERA.

In what was essentially a must-win game for both teams, the Mariners beat the Astros 12-4 behind a three-run homer in the first from Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager's late blast to ice it. Now the Mariners turn to the scoreboard, rooting for the Blue Jays and Indians to win tonight, and head home probably needing to sweep all four from the A's.

Why has Marcus Mariota been so much better on the road than at home? "I'm not sure," left tackle Taylor Lewan said. "Because when we play at home it's not really a home game because there are just as many opponents' fans as there are… There's really no difference except for we are not flying somewhere." Since Bartolo Colon only threw 47 pitches on Monday in Miami, Terry Collins told reporters Colon may come back on short rest on Friday in Philadelphia. That would put Colon on the proper rest for next Wednesday's wild-card game if Noah Syndergaard is unavailable. Syndergaard is due to pitch the regular-season finale on Sunday in Philadelphia. Syndergaard would be limited to only 25 pitches if the Mets already have clinched and then pitch the wild-card game. But he'll go far longer if the Mets need that game.

The Cubs were going to announce Theo Epstein's extension on Sunday after hammering out the details on Saturday but the team waited a couple days due to the death of Jose Fernandez.
