The 49ers made three more roster moves Sunday as they move closer to the league-mandated limit of 75 by Tuesday. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Niners dealt OL Brandon Thomas to the Detroit Lions for WR Jeremy Kerley. Kerley gives the Niners some depth at receiver and a potential replacement in the slot if Bruce Ellington's hamstring injury turns out to be serious. The 49ers also released OL Erik Pears and TE Busta Anderson. They now stand at 77 players on the roster and need to make two more moves before Tuesday's deadline.

Chris Buescher, who entered the race at Michigan with a 13-point edge on 31st-place David Ragan, is running last in the field Sunday as his engine is not running at full power. There are three races, including Michigan, left in the regular season. Buescher needs to be in the top-30 in points to be eligible to make the Chase with his win from Pocono earlier this month. Ragan is running 32nd with 160 laps left in the race.

VIKINGS 12, CHARGERS 10 (HALFTIME): Though he was under more pressure than the Vikings probably would have liked, Teddy Bridgewater had an impressive first half in his return from the sore shoulder that kept him out last Thursday against the Seahawks. Bridgewater went 12-for-16 for 161 yards and a touchdown, also juking his way to a 22-yard run. Jerick McKinnon had a solid half, too, gaining 56 yards on eight carries, and Bridgewater found Stefon Diggs five times for 71 yards. The Vikings' concerns from the first half are familiar ones: Bridgewater was sacked three times, and Melvin Gordon scored the first touchdown at U.S. Bank Stadium on a 39-yard run after Audie Cole went for Philip Rivers on a blitz and Michael Griffin missed Gordon in the open field.

Packers WR Jordy Nelson said he "probably won't" play in the preseason finale on Thursday at KC, which means he'll go into the regular season without any game reps since his ACL tear. He does expect to get team (11-on-11) reps in practice this week.

Watch Ben Zobrist discuss his sac bunt in the first inning on Saturday against the Dodgers. It was the first in MLB by a cleanup hitter in the first inning this season. Zobrist says he was actually given the "suggestion" from Joe Maddon to bunt for a hit and once he got down 0-1 he figured he had a better chance of getting one down then swinging away.

Bills OLB Manny Lawson responded today for the first time to the NFL's confirmation that he is being investigated for a personal conduct policy violation, saying there was "no physical violence" in 2014 domestic incident in Arizona. "We'll see what the NFL has to say about it," Lawson added, saying there have been no other incidents since then.

Darian Daily, head groundskeeper for Paul Brown Stadium since 2003, passed away Saturday while painting a football field at Taylor High School in Ohio. Daily was in his late 40s. "The news of Darian's passing is tragic to the entire Bengals organization," said Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan. "He was a great individual--enthusiastic, helpful, fun to be around. He will be missed in a very personal sense as well as a professional one. ... Our sympathy goes out to Darian's family and friends."

Add Asdrubal Cabrera to the mounting injuries for the Mets. Cabrera departed Sunday's game in the first inning after gingerly advancing to second base on a single by Kelly Johnson. Cabrera had collided at first base with Philadelphia's Tommy Joseph earlier in the inning, when Cabrera reached on an infield single.

The Colts have signed running back Stevan Ridley. He has rushed for 2,907 yards (4.2 avg) with 22 touchdowns in five seasons in the NFL. Colts are desperate for a backup running back behind starter Frank Gore.

NASCAR will test its proposed 2017 aerodynamic rules one final time today with a 200-lap race at Michigan International Speedway. The rules reduce downforce and sideforce, hoping to reduce corner speeds and create more passing. The challenge for drivers? The cars get more unstable when side-by-side. NASCAR tested the package in races at Michigan and Kentucky this year, and wanted to see it one more time at Michigan – where the track has hoped to add more grip by using a machine to put tire rubber into the track the week before the race.

Zach Johnson has been inside the top-eight on the U.S. Ryder Cup points list since his Open Championship win last year, but on the final day of qualifying, he might finish without an automatic berth. If Rickie Fowler (currently leading) finishes inside the top-three and Patrick Reed (currently second) finishes inside the top-10 or so, Johnson will need to rely on one of four captain's selections. "It's out of my control," he said after his final round at The Barclays. "I had my opportunities. It's not exactly ideal."
