Did Ron Rivera draw a line in the sand for Cam Newton?

Ron Rivera's task is to make sure the Cam Newton-attire incident doesn't become a bigger issue. When a team with high expectations is 4-8, sometimes the smallest of things can lead to a coach and a staff losing the locker room.

The Cavs have lost three games in a row coming into Monday's game against Toronto, while the Raptors have won six straight. Does that make Cleveland the underdog at all? "Never the underdog, no," said Tyronn Lue at Cavs shootaround. "We lost a couple games, so what? We don't feel like the underdog though."

If the playoffs started today, the Seahawks (8-3-1) would have a first-round bye. Their most likely opponent for a home game in the divisional round (in order) would be: the Lions, Falcons or Giants. The path to the Super Bowl would include one potential road game: the NFC championship in Dallas against the Cowboys.

The team to watch on Edwin Encarnacion is the Texas Rangers as team president Jon Daniels is always opportunistic during market changes like he was last July when the Indians deal with Jonathan Lucroy fell apart and he swooped in to land him. The Indians are also a sleeper team to watch if the market were to fall further. Encarnacion smart play might be to do what Cespedes did last year, do a 3-year deal with a opt out after year 1 and go back on the market next off -season

It was a perfect break. He said, ‘I read that.' That's Earl being Earl. He wasn't talking about the injury at all. He said he read that play. He was waiting on that. And he made a play."

The best news for the Seahawks coming out of their 40-7 win over the Panthers is that RB Thomas Rawls and WR Tyler Lockett look like they're going to be factors down the stretch. Rawls ran 15 times for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns vs. Carolina. Lockett had five catches for 63 yards to go along with a 75-yard TD run. The defense has questions to answer after safety Earl Thomas suffered a lower leg fracture, but the offense is back on track after a hiccup last week in Tampa.
