Keep a lookout tomorrow for updates on Andrew Benintendi, who sprained his knee as a result of a bad baserunning play. On second base on a grounder to shortstop, he attempted to return to second even though he had already passed the fielder. He was tagged out as he tried to evade the tag.

How big of a rut has Jacob deGrom fallen into? His outing Wednesday marked the first time in franchise history that a Mets pitcher allowed a dozen hits in consecutive appearances, and the first time in deGrom's career he has allowed double-digit hits in consecutive starts. With the Marlins acquiring Jeff Francoeur, it's worth noting this about the Mets: Team officials are not expecting to make any acquisitions the remainder of this month. They did put in a claim on a reliever earlier this month, but did not win the claim. You may recall the Mets acquired Addison Reed in August 2015.

There's some interesting nuance to Stanford's QB situation. David Shaw named Ryan Burns the starter, but he also said that Keller Chryst will get playing time against Kansas State. This differs from the Cardinal's last QB transition in 2012. That year, Shaw tapped Josh Nunes as the exclusive guy at the start of the season. Eventual starter Kevin Hogan did not begin seeing playing time until later in the year.
