Mirjana Lucic-Baroni troubled American qualifier Jennifer Brady on serve in the final set to finish off a 6-4, 6-2 win that now sends Lucic-Baroni into the quarterfinal round at the Australian Open for the first time since she first won a match here in 1998. Lucia-Baroni, 34, quit tennis for a years after fleeing her abusive father in Croatia at age 17. Asked her advice to people facing obstacles in life, she laughed and said, "F everything and everybody whoever tells you you can't do it. Just show up." #Ausopen

A display case with dress and trophies belonging to Aussie tennis legend Margaret Court sits just inside the arena named after her at the Australian Open. There a still a few diehards who say Court deserves more respect in the best-ever conversation along with Serena Williams and Steffi Graf. But she played in the 1960s and early '70s. She's the only player to ever pull off Grand Slam sweeps in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Billie Jean King and Court's other contemporaries used to call her The Arm because she hit with such authority.

The Steelers won nine straight games by imposing their will and playing aggressively. They lacked that edge in a 37-16 loss to the New England Patriots game in the AFC Championship Game. They tried to create pressure on Tom Brady but all efforts were ineffective. The Steelers had held things together on offense with the big three of Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown and Ben Roethlisberger, but the supporting cast wasn't enough when needed. The Steelers are a dangerous 2017 team but a humbled 2016 one.

Mike Tomlin thought 'style of play' was most disappointing about 37-16 loss to Patriots. Team didn't dictate pace or impose will. "We didn't make enough plays."

After her straight-sets win to reach the Aussie Open quarterfinals, Serena Williams was asked in press what she made of both No. 1 players, Andy Murray and Angelique Kerber, losing yesterday: "Yeah, Murray was very shocking. I went to bed by the time the other match came on, because it was getting to be so late. But it's been a couple interesting weeks for Angie. You know, she's been dealing with a lot. I think she was able to handle it the best she could. "I think Coco played really well. I think she really just came up with a wonderful game plan, and it was an easy match, so it wasn't too surprising."

Tom Brady and the Patriots offense exploded at the right time, burying the Steelers 36-17 to set up a Super Bowl LI date with the high-flying Atlanta Falcons. Brady's 384 passing yards break his own Patriots franchise playoff record.

The lack of a viable No. 2 receiver on the outside finally caught up to the Steelers, whose supporting cast suffered several drops. Bill Belichick wanted to contain Antonio Brown (seven catches, 77 yards), and with Le'Veon Bell hurt, the Steelers didn't have a response.

Tom Brady is up to 384 yards passing versus the Steelers defense tonight. With Pittsburgh leaning on zone coverages, Brady targeted open windows and got the ball out to receivers in space. Tough to limit Brady when you don't challenge the Patriots' WRs at the line of scrimmage and play some man-technique.

New England remains a 3-point favorite over the Atlanta Falcons at the nine Las Vegas sports books with lines already posted. William is the only one with a line different from the standard 10-percent vig as it's moved to Patriots -3 (-120). Note: offshore books are shading the +3 line toward the Falcons. The over/under is 58 points in Vegas with the Wynn being the first to move to 58.5.
