Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens' pregame speech to the East All-Stars: "It's an honor for us to be here and we appreciate the opportunity to be here with you guys. I get asked all the time about, ‘What inspired you to get into coaching? And what inspired you to want to do this?' And the truth of the matter is nobody is inspired to get into coaching, it just means we weren't good enough to be players. And ultimately the people that inspired me as a kid were the Reggie Millers, were the Larry Birds, were the Magic Johnsons, the Michael Jordans of our era — the guys that are sitting in your shoes. And so I just want to say thank you for the opportunity to share the day with you. And also I recognize the fact of what you mean to those kids."

It's West 144, East 139 heading into the fourth quarter. Anthony Davis has 32 points and 7 rebounds. Russell Westbrook has 31 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds off the bench.

Adam Reisinger ESPN.com

Russell Westbrook caught fire at the end of the third quarter, draining four 3-pointers in the final 1:17 to give him 31 points and give the West a 144-139 lead. Westbrook scored 31 last year and 41 two years ago, winning MVP honors both times. No player has won 3 straight All-Star Game MVP Awards.

Anthony Davis still out in front of all scorers, with 32 points, entering the fourth quarter, but Russell Westbrook (31) is closing in fast.

Which of Giannis Antetokounmpo's eight dunks has been your favorite?

So after all the mystery of who would be the plus-1 in the four Warriors All-Star lineup, it turns out it's DeAndre Jordan, who actually signed an offer sheet with Golden State back in 2011 when he first became a free agent.

Midway through the third quarter, Pelicans star Anthony Davis is up to a game-high 32 points. The record for a single All-Star Game is 42 by Wilt Chamberlain in 1962. Russell Westbrook fell a point shy of that mark in 2015, and Paul George did so in 2016.

Former UFC bantamweight title challenger and U.S. Olympic wrestler Sara McMann (11-3) steamrolled UFC newcomer Gina Mazany (4-1), submitting her in the first round of their fight in Halifax, Nova Scotia. McMann called for a title shot afterwards. She has suffered three losses in the UFC, all of which have come to women who have held the UFC title in Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes.

One storyline to watch for the second half of the All-Star Game beyond the big ones: when will James Harden score? The Rockets star was 0-for-2 in the first half. The last All-Star starter to go scoreless for the game was Kevin Garnett, who played just 6 minutes in 2013.

ESPN Stats and Information

There were 57 dunks in last year's NBA All-Star Game. There were 42 in the first half this year.

Anthony Davis is getting the ball early and often at the Smoothie King Center, as per usual, and leads all scorers with 22 points on 11/17 shooting as the West leads the East 97-92 at half.

Adam Reisinger ESPN.com

Halftime in New Orleans, and the West leads the East 97-92. If that pace keeps up, the two teams would set a record for the highest-scoring All-Star Game for the fourth consecutive year. Last year's game featured 369 points.

The East and West almost combined for 200 points in the FIRST HALF.

Referees at the NBA All-Star Game are like referees in a WWE match. They're really just there for show.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has emerged as an early MVP favorite should the East (up one in the second quarter) win. He's got 16 points on 7-of-7 shooting.

Adam Reisinger ESPN.com

NBA legends Allen Iverson, Willis Reed, Julius Erving, Bob Pettit, George Gervin, Magic Johnson and Bill Russell were honored during a timeout in the first half at the NBA All-Star Game. Kyrie Irving and Kyle Lowry came out of the East's huddle to shake hands with each former player.

Draymond Green punctuates a high flying freewheeling 101 point first quarter with a rim-rattling dunk during a game so spirited that Kevin Durant tossed a perfect lob to Russell Westbrook for a crowd pleasing alley oop.

Justin Verrier ESPN Staff Writer

The East All-Stars are rolling with small ball to start the second quarter, with point guards Isaiah Thomas (5-foot-9) and Kemba Walker (6-foot-1) sharing a backcourt. John Wall, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony round out the unit.

Darren Rovell ESPN Senior Writer

Most points in the first quarter of an NBA All-Star Game with 101. Over/Under is 352.

ESPN Stats and Information

The two teams combined for 101 points in the first quarter. That sets the All-Star record for most points in q quarter, breaking the mark of 99 (set in 2 different quarters last season).

Adam Reisinger ESPN.com

Every East player who played in the first quarter scored, and they lead the West 53-48 after 1. Between both teams, four players have yet to enter: DeMarcus Cousins, DeAndre Jordan, Kemba Walker and Carmelo Anthony, who was a late addition to the roster.

Justin Verrier ESPN Staff Writer

Anthony Davis and Giannis Antetokounmpo have 10 points apiece as the East All-Stars lead the West 53-48 after one quarter at the Big Blender.

Arash Markazi ESPN Senior Writer

East 53, West 48 at the end of the first quarter. Yes, the FIRST QUARTER.
