Jets legend Joe Namath, realizing he made a mistake by questioning the severity of Geno Smith's knee injury, offered a mea culpa. "My bad Geno," Namath tweeted. "In the dark ages we players had the say. I hope you heal and play as long as you choose! Joe." Smith has an ACL tear that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

Asked about the possibility of having PUP players Dion Lewis and Tre' Jackson practice this week, Bill Belichick didn't rule it out as he did last Tuesday. "We'll have to talk with our medical and conditioning staff and get a sense of where everybody is and figure that out for when practice starts Wednesday," Belichick said. "We'll take a look at that information and see where we are and then make a decision on it prior to Wednesday's practice."

Kyle Schwarber has made the Cubs 25 man roster and is likely to DH in Cleveland when the World Series gets underway on Tuesday night. He's six months removed from surgery to repair two torn ligaments in his left knee. He has not been cleared to play the field. It's a stunning development for the Cubs as they had ruled him out for the season as recently as mid September.

Monday night's game in Denver was the NFL's 11th primetime game (of 22) to be decided by at least 14 points, per ESPN Stats & Information. Context: In 2015, there were 11 games decided by at least 14 points all season. There have been a lot of opinions thrown around about the NFL's TV ratings slide, but this represents some actual data to help explain it: Demonstrably less competitive games in the most high-profile broadcast slots.

As Cleveland seeks its first World Series title since 1948, my thoughts go back to firsthand interviews decades later with that team's Larry Doby, Ken Keltner and Bob Feller about their careers. Doby emotionally recounted the role fellow Hall of Famer Joe Gordon played in making him feel welcome in July 1947 when he broke the American League color line three months after Jackie Robinson's National League debut. Keltner was the culprit at third base whose 1941 defense stopped Joe DiMaggio's record hitting streak at 56 games. And less than five months later, the all-time great Feller famously enlisted in the navy when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Doby, Gordon, Keltner and several other teammates had also served during World War II, including Eddie Robinson, the last living member of the '48 champions.

That's another rough night for DeAndre Hopkins fantasy owners. Hopkins saw 12 targets versus the Broncos, but he produced only 36 yards on five receptions. The lack of consistent play and accuracy from quarterback Brock Osweiler has really impacted the fantasy numbers for the Texans No.1 WR.

Sarah Barshop ESPN Staff Writer

The Texans struggled on the road again, losing to the Broncos, 27-9. Quarterback Brock Osweiler struggled in his return to Denver, averaging less than 3.2 yard per attempt, which is the worst in the NFL this season. The Texans have now been outscored 85-22 in three games this year.
