Bears starting tailback Jeremy Langford was cleared for full participation in Thursday's practice. Langford said he suffered a minor foot injury vs. New England last week when he got caught up on a play near the sideline. After the game, Langford experienced soreness and swelling, which kept him out for a couple days. But Langford says he's ready to play in Chicago's third preseason game on Saturday against Kansas City.

The Colorado Avalanche have named Jared Bednar as head coach, the team announced Thursday. "After profiling the type of coach I wanted for our team and going through an interview process with several good candidates, I believe that Jared Bednar is the best person to lead this team behind the bench," said Avalanche GM Joe Sakic. "Jared's track record of success as a head coach in the American Hockey League speaks for itself and he is considered to be one of the top up-and-coming coaches in our business." Bednar, 44, coached the Columbus Blue Jackets' AHL affiliate to the 2016 Calder Cup championship.
