Florida State's second scrimmage was just average, coach Jimbo Fisher said. Before camp opened, Fisher talked about the need for the players around Deondre Francois to step up, but Fisher wasn't enthusiastic about the receivers Wednesday. He said right now they have bodies at the position they can throw to but not options. Fisher has been hard on his receivers the last two seasons.

Asked what his relationship with Baalke is like now, Kaepernick called it a "business" relationship. Asked if he would agree with the characterization of the conversation as a good one, Kaepernick said "We had a conversation." Kaepernick, of course, was the subject of a number of trade rumors during the offseason but remained with the team.

The Tigers are planning to send a scout to watch Tim Tebow's workout, slated to take place next week in Los Angeles. Like many of the teams attending, the Tigers view this as doing their due diligence, though genuine interest is believed to be minimal. Asked three different (non-Tigers) scouts what they thought of the former Heisman Trophy winner's chances at a legitimate MLB bid. All three seemed extremely skeptical he was capable of playing at big-league level.

49ers QB Colin Kaepernick says he is feeling good after the first three practices of the week and he's excited to get back on the field on Friday night for his preseason debut. Kaepernick has been dealing with shoulder fatigue but came back to practice on Monday. Coach Chip Kelly said earlier Wednesday that the coaching staff will sit down and divvy up quarterback reps on Thursday.

Teddy Bridgewater got more work in the Vikings' Wednesday practice than he did on Tuesday, throwing a 40-yard pass downfield and hitting Kyle Rudolph on a pair of crossing routes. Bridgewater, who sat out last Thursday night with a sore shoulder, said he plans to play on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. On his 40-yard throw on Wednesday, Bridgewater overthrew Rudolph, but a referee working the practice called Captain Munnerlyn for pass interference.
