Cowboys rookie RB Zeke Elliott has looked impressive tonight. Runs hard, drops his pads on contact & has the vision to find daylight. Speed to get to the edge, too.

Sheil Kapadia ESPN Writer

Ezekiel Elliott had five carries for 40 yards on that drive against the Seahawks' starting defense. Drive went 81 yards on seven plays.

Jared Goff, on what he wants to accomplish in Week 3 of the preseason: "I just want to build off what I was able to feel last game. It started to feel a lot more like it has in the past. I think that just comes with more reps and settling in. I want to build off that in Denver."

As the Cowboys start their second series Tony Romo remains on the sideline with Dak Prescott taking the first team snaps.

Todd Archer ESPN Staff Writer

Tony Romo took two steps on to the field after missing three snaps but he was sent back to the sideline. He did not sit down while getting examined by doctors. He is now throwing passes on the sideline

Todd Archer ESPN Staff Writer

Tony Romo is down after a sack by Cliff Avril as he was sliding to ground. Avril was on top of Romo and he appeared to jam his back into the ground. He was able to walk off on own power.

How did Scherzer do that?

Max Scherzer stopped the Nats' four-game losing streak, stopped a hot-hitting Orioles team (8 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 10 K), and stopped fans from panicking with Strasburg on the DL. He even stopped a ground ball between his legs - backwards. Pretty sure that makes him a stopper.

Looks like Falcons coach Dan Quinn told NBC Julio Jones (ankle) could have returned, and Jones obviously wanted to return. Smart to keep him out.

Triple-A Las Vegas beat up Tim Lincecum on Thursday night, tagging the ex-Giant for eight runs (five earned) in four innings. Brandon Nimmo had a two-run single and Kevin Plawecki had a two-run double against Lincecum and Salt Lake.

Everyone is up in arms over why thd Dodgers would trade A.J. Ellis, Clayton Kershaw's personal catcher and best buddy. It's simple though: Ellis ranks 347th out of 351 batters with at least 150 PAs in wOBA. They needed a better option available in case Yasmani Grandal gets injured.

Vaughn McClure ESPN Staff Writer

Falcons trailing 7-3 to Dolphins at half. The big story is the injuries to Julio Jones (ankle), Keanu Neal (knee), and Adrian Clayborn (shoulder). Matt Ryan not having the best night with an INT in the red zone and some incompletions under duress. Ryan is 11 of 20 for 106 yards. Defensively, Falcons started strong with Desmond Trufant pick off tip but there's no pressure coming consistently up front. Best rushes have been from Brooks Reed and RaShede Hageman.

Sheil Kapadia ESPN Writer

Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham is in full uniform and warming up with the team before tonight's game. Graham participated in some team drills during the week, Pete Carroll said. "He will be picking up steam here in the next couple weeks," added Carroll.

Dolphins RB Arian Foster has looked smooth tonight. If he stays healthy, there is no question about his fit in Adam Gase's system. Foster has the versatility to run routes out of the backfield and the one-cut running style to produce in Miami's zone schemes.

Vaughn McClure ESPN Staff Writer

Julio Jones is questionable to return with ankle injury

Vaughn McClure ESPN Staff Writer

Julio Jones a little banged up after that deep ball. Slightly limped off field after drawing penalty

Dolphins Pro Bowl S Reshad Jones gets his first interception of the preseason near the goal line against Falcons QB Matt Ryan. Good play by Jones, who returned it 17 yards.

Alcides Escobar is certainly not known for his power. Tonight, he hit his 2nd HR in August (23 games). He hit just 1 homer in April, May, June and July combined (104 games).

You know it's your night when you field a comebacker in between your legs with your back to home plate, like Max Scherzer just did. And when your line looks like this so far: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K.

Christian Yelich hit a deep fly ball to center field in the first inning Thursday that nearly left the playing field. The reason it didn't? Jarrod Dyson, who robbed the possible home run from Yelich. It was the first robbed home run in Marlins Park history.
