Tennessee breaks Florida curse, takes control of SEC East

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- It appears that ducks are stronger than the Gators thought.Days after Florida players metaphorically compared ducks incapable of pulling Gator-made trucks, Tennessee erased what seemed like an insurmountable 21-point, second-quarter deficit.

Wisconsin may not be exciting, but it's fun to watch

Wisconsin put an old-fashioned beatdown on Michigan State to begin a brutal Big Ten stretch. The Badgers may be archaic in their approach, but they sure are making the conference race exciting.

Auburn goes into the half with a 9-7 lead, but LSU grabs some momentum with a goal line stand right before the break. Auburn has been in the red zone three times tonight and come away with just two field goals. Excluding the Arkansas State game, Auburn has scored only 3 touchdowns on 11 red-zone trips this season.

Jimbo Fisher was extremely displeased post game after a 20-point win over undefeated USF. The Florida State coach was annoyed the Seminoles once again couldn't put together a 60-minute effort. They allowed USF touchdowns on the first two drives, then regrouped to allow only two non-penalty first downs on the next nine drives but ended giving up three touchdown drives of 90, 75 and 75 yards.

Tennessee totally dominated Florida in the second half. Vols out-gained Florida 336-102. Joshua Dobbs started 1 of 8 but threw for a career-high 319 yards with four touchdowns. He had five total touchdowns in the second half. Florida's top-ranked defense surrendered 6.3 yards per play today in Knoxville.

A game to remember for North Carolina's Mitch Trubisky. His 453 passing yards are second-most in UNC history (Marquise WIlliams passed for 494 last season). Trubisky extended his school record to 202 consecutive passes without an interception. His five touchdown passes were a career-high. Also of note: Ryan Switzer tied a single-game school record with 16 catches.

Wake Forest is 4-0 for the first time since 2006 when the Deacs won 11 games and the ACC. They remain undefeated because backup John Wolford, who lost the QB job, played one of the best games of his career. He kept drives alive with his arms and legs, and he converted when the Wake defense gave him the ball on one of five interceptions. That's the best win of the Dave Clawson era.

Duke, Wake Forest, Syracuse and Virginia were all underdogs by a combined 36.5 points. They went 4-0 with a combined 29-point margin of victory. Good day for the ACC, which is 7-0 in non-conference play, pending Louisville's trip to Marshall tonight.

Colorado quarterback Steven Montez having quite the day in his first start. He has completed 17-of-20 passes, thrown for one TD and has a passer rating of 192.6. He has added 49 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown, which is just enough of a dual threat nature to keep Oregon's defense guessing.

Oregon has been struggling with penalties all season. Mark Helfrich said it'd be a point of emphasis this week in practice. But through the first half the Ducks have racked up 55 yards of penalties, bringing their season total to 369 yards.

Mitch Trubisky hits Bug Howard for a 2-yard TD to take a 37-36 lead with 2 seconds to play. Trubisky converted three fourth-and-longs on the drive. UNC is just the 5th team in the last decade to score at least 37 points in a win while rushing for fewer than 20 total yards.

Huge road win for West Virginia tonight against BYU. The Mountaineers' defense came through in the clutch, picking off Taysom Hill on back-to-back drives to end their 35-32 win at FedExField. If Oklahoma State upsets Baylor tonight, West Virginia is the only undefeated team left in the Big 12.

No. 4 Michigan moves to 4-0 by pummeling Penn State, 49-10. A big test waits for the Wolverines next week. Wisconsin should be ranked in the top 10 when the Badgers get to Ann Arbor next Saturday.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, last year, Tennessee lost two games in which its win probability reached at least 90 percent, including its 28-27 loss to Florida at the Swamp. If the results hold, this will be the Vols' second win this season in which their win probability fell below 10 percent. The Vols' 18-point halftime deficit would mean this would be the second-largest halftime deficit the Vols have erased

Here's a small bit of bad news for the Mets: Jose Fernandez, who had been scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Braves, instead will be given an extra day of rest and face the Mets in Monday's series opener at Marlins Park. Fernandez is 3-0 with a 1.34 ERA in eight career starts against the Mets. This year alone, Fernandez is 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA in four starts against the Mets. He's also been dominant in his career at Marlins Park, going 29-2 with a 1.49 ERA in 42 starts.

New Duke DL coach Ben Albert deserves plenty of credit this season, and today. The Blue Devils recorded their 15th sack of the year and pressured DeShone Kizer into a pick on back to back plays. Albert coached a great d-line at Boston College last season, and now the Blue Devils are in position to take the lead late.
