Falcons beat Saints 45-32 to close out NFL Week 3. The ViewFromVegas is they did it as 3-point road underdogs and +135 on money line. It was the seventh outright upset of the weekend (and that doesn't include Patriots, who were 'dogs earlier last week before closing pick 'em on Thursday night).

Vaughn McClure ESPN Staff Writer

Falcons sit atop the NFC South now at 2-1 after a 45-32 win over the rival Saints (0-3) Monday night. Devonta Freeman with 152 rushing yards on just 14 carries, while Tevin Coleman had three touchdowns on 12 carries. Matt Ryan and the offense clicked even with Julio Jones managing just one catch for 16 yards. Rookie Deion Jones with a 90-yard interception return for touchdown in return home to New Orleans. Falcons now will face Carolina (1-2) at home on a short week Sunday.

Falcons RBs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman took this game over in New Orleans...Freeman produced 152 yards rushing and Coleman added three touchdowns on the ground. The Falcons controlled the line of scrimmage and created running lanes all night in the 45-32 win over the Saints.

Another epic loss for the Saints as they fall to 0-3 -- 45-32 to the Falcons. The Saints actually outgained Atlanta 474 yards to 442, but they were the ones who committed two game-changing turnovers (a botched punt return for a fumble in the first quarter, then an interception returned 90 yards for a TD by Atlanta LB Deion Jones in the fourth).

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said things will slowly get better, but it's tough and it's going to hurt for a long time.

The ball can touch the ground and still be in possession -- but first the receiver has to gain possession. That didn't happen on the interception, and the overturn was the correct decision.

Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon (left) said he knows he wasn't supposed to wear his "RIP" tribute shirt for Jose Fernandez during warmups, "but that's a fine I'm willing to take."

Looks like Matt Ryan has some protection now on his left hand after last sack.

Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon (left) said today's game was "bigger than baseball." This was an emotional night and the team fought through it.

Defense is optional tonight in New Orleans. The Saints and Falcons have combined for 787 offensive yards with 10 minutes remaining in the game. It would be a disappointment if they fall short of 1,000 yards before the final gun.

Mike Triplett ESPN Staff Writer

Saints offense right back at it with a quick TD drive after the disastrous pick 6. A 5-yard TD pass to Mark Ingram that was his first TD catch in six seasons with the Saints. Saints have actually outgained the Falcons 420-367. But they still trail the Falcons 45-32 with 10:00 remaining.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

Falcons rookie LB Deion Jones really stood out at the Senior Bowl workouts last January. He moves like a strong safety. Speed and lateral quickness. We saw that on his interception return for a touchdown.

Mark Saxon ESPN Staff Writer

The Cardinals lost 15-2 to the Cincinnati Reds Monday night to lose more ground in the wild-card race. With just six games left, the Cardinals trail the Mets by 1 1/2 games and the Giants by a game. They are 33-42 at home and all their remaining games are at Busch Stadium.

Eddie Matz ESPN Senior Writer

The bad news? The Nationals got blown out 14-4 by Arizona - their sixth loss in nine games - and now lead the Dodgers by just one game for home field advantage in the NLDS between the two teams. The worse news? Washington lost All-Star catcher Wilson Ramos, who left in the sixth inning with what appeared to be a pretty serious knee injury.

Mike Triplett ESPN Staff Writer

Saints in huge trouble now after Falcons LB and New Orleans native Deion Jones returns an interception 90 yards for a touchdown off a tipped pass intended for WR Michael Thomas. Saints were closing in on a one-score game. But the jinx was in after the Saints had recently announced that Drew Brees became the third quarterback in NFL history with more than 300 straight passes without an interception. Atlanta leads 45-25 early in the fourth quarter.

Adam Rubin ESPN Staff Writer

Marlins' Dee Gordon: "I don't know how any of us got out there and played today." He proceeded to call the Mets "first class."

The Cubs won their 100th game of the season in blowout fashion, 12-2, over the Pittsburgh Pirates and in doing so reached the century mark in victories for the first time since 1935. They're 100-56 with six games remaining in the season.

The Marlins beat the Mets, 7-3, on an emotional night dedicated to pitcher Jose Fernandez. Fans chanted "Jose! Jose!" as Miami was preparing for the final out.
