Who is the next closer on a wild-card contender to have a catastrophic blow-up? On Friday, it was the Astros' Ken Giles, who gave up six runs in the ninth. Today, it was the Tigers' Francisco Rodriguez, who gave up five in the ninth. With the Blue Jays shutting out the Yankees again, it's now looking like the Tigers, Orioles, Mariners and Astros battling for one spot.

Houston WR D'Eriq King has a very particular set of skills, skills he acquired over a very long career playing quarterback at Manvel (Texas) High School. The true freshman had a 48-yard TD catch and run on a screen, then followed it up with a 15-yard TD pass on a trick play to extend Houston's lead over Texas State to 22-0.

Houston has a tricky start to its schedule with four games in 19 days. The No. 6 Coogs are taking care of business so far against Texas State, up 16-0 after one quarter, and must go right into UConn prep and practice on Sunday for a Thursday night game against the only team that beat UH in 2015. With that quick turnaround, tonight would be a good night for UH to build a big lead early and let the backups play most of the second half.

Auburn goes into the half with a 9-7 lead, but LSU grabs some momentum with a goal line stand right before the break. Auburn has been in the red zone three times tonight and come away with just two field goals. Excluding the Arkansas State game, Auburn has scored only 3 touchdowns on 11 red-zone trips this season.

Jimbo Fisher was extremely displeased post game after a 20-point win over undefeated USF. The Florida State coach was annoyed the Seminoles once again couldn't put together a 60-minute effort. They allowed USF touchdowns on the first two drives, then regrouped to allow only two non-penalty first downs on the next nine drives but ended giving up three touchdown drives of 90, 75 and 75 yards.

He had five total touchdowns in the second half. Florida's top-ranked defense surrendered 6.3 yards per play today in Knoxville.

A game to remember for North Carolina's Mitch Trubisky. His 453 passing yards are second-most in UNC history (Marquise WIlliams passed for 494 last season). Trubisky extended his school record to 202 consecutive passes without an interception. His five touchdown passes were a career-high. Also of note: Ryan Switzer tied a single-game school record with 16 catches.

Wake Forest is 4-0 for the first time since 2006 when the Deacs won 11 games and the ACC. They remain undefeated because backup John Wolford, who lost the QB job, played one of the best games of his career. He kept drives alive with his arms and legs, and he converted when the Wake defense gave him the ball on one of five interceptions. That's the best win of the Dave Clawson era.
