Bracketology: Kentucky (for now) takes a dip

Big Blue Nation didn't like losing at home to UCLA. It's probably fair to say it won't like falling from a No. 1 seed -- or being matched up against a team that already knocked off a major power this season.

Things getting ugly in New Orleans as the Pelicans score just 12 points on 5-for-25 shooting in the third. They trail a Sixers team that's lost 23 straight on the road, 71-69, after three quarters.

Timing is everything. Last offseason, in a crowded free agent market, nobody really wanted Dexter Fowler. He turned down a lowball offer from the Orioles, returned to the Cubs, had the best season of his career and became a Cubs legend. Now he's headed to the Cardinals pending a physical, basically the same player as a year ago except a year older ... and reportedly about $80-$90 million richer.

Curry somehow sinks ridiculous and-1

After Steph Curry is fouled on a steal attempt, he tosses up a super-high righty floater that drops through the net against the Jazz.

Chiefs jump to a 21-3 lead over the Raiders on the Tyreek Hill punt return. Ridiculous speed. But I also like Hill's ability to set up the first defender after the catch. That allowed him to make one cut and get up the field.

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

Since Week 7 and including tonight's game, Tyreek Hill's 87 total fantasy points and 10.9 fantasy points per game are third- and 12th-best among wide receivers.

Kevin Seifert NFL Nation

A hopeful note for Raiders fans from ESPN Stats & Information: Oakland is 3-2 this season in games during which it has trailed by 10 or more points. The Cowboys (2-0) are the only other team with a winning record in that situation. The Raiders, of course, would have to show some life tonight on offense before they can begin thinking about improving on that mark.

Just before Tyreek Hill returned that punt for a touchdown, the crowd at Arrowhead was chanting his name. This place is energized by his energy. He now has two touchdowns tonight.

Chiefs QB Alex Smith has already thrown for 202 yards (11-of-16) and a TD in the first half vs. the Raiders. Smith is targeting middle of the field routes, finding the matchups with TE Travis Kelce and making off-scheduled plays to move the sticks. Chiefs lead 14-3 over the Raiders.

Adam Teicher ESPN Staff Writer

The Chiefs have focused in recent weeks on getting tight end Travis Kelce the ball in the open field where he can do what he does best -- run after the catch. Kelce did just that on his 28-yard reception that set up Kansas City's second TD of the game. Kelce, with 59 receiving yards, appears on his way to his fourth straight 100-plus-yard game. The Chiefs lead 14-3 midway through the second quarter.

Bob Holtzman ESPN

The Chiefs already have completed five passes of 15 yards or longer. Remember the Raiders are without starting safety Karl Joseph tonight and placed CB D.J. Hayden on IR last week.

Adam Teicher ESPN Staff Writer

Tyreek Hill is fast but speed alone is not what makes him a deep threat. He's also a solid route runner who tracks the ball well. He didn't have much to track on his 36-yard touchdown catch that gives the Chiefs a 7-3 lead. Alex Smith put the ball in an ideal spot.

Stay out of Anthony Davis' way

The Pelicans star drives through the paint and throws down a two-handed jam against the 76ers.

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson became the first player in school history to win the Maxwell Award, adding to the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award he won earlier in the evening. He's the second player in FBS history to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,500 yards in same season (2012 Jordan Lynch – Northern Illinois).

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen became the first player in school history to win the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to the best defensive player in the country. He's the third SEC player in seven seasons to win the award.

Bob Holtzman ESPN

When the Raiders and Chiefs met eight weeks ago Alex Smith was 19-22. He's already thrown four incomplete passes tonight.

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Utah has a pretty good streak going with its punters. Mitch Wishnowsky won the Ray Guy Award -- making Utah the first school to win the award in three straight seasons. Tom Hackett won it in 2014 and 2015.

It looks to me like the training staff is looking at Derek Carr's right hand. That's the same hand he injured less than two weeks ago.

Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson won the Outland Trophy as the most outstanding interior lineman. He said his first thought after he heard his name called was don't fall on the steps.

Dede Westbrook became the first Oklahoma receiver to win the Biletnikoff Award. He leads Power 5 receivers in 20-yard receptions with 26, and 100-yard receiving games with eight.

Paul Gutierrez ESPN Staff Writer

That was a huge, HUGE stop on 4th and 1 by veteran Nate Allen, who is starting at strong safety in place of injured rookie Karl Joseph. Allen said this week he always prepares as though he is going to start.

Adam Teicher ESPN Staff Writer

Andy Reid no doubt felt compelled to try to convert there because of the Chiefs' success this season on fourth down. They were 9-of-11 on fourth down plays before failing there.

Paul Gutierrez ESPN Staff Writer

A huge key for the Raiders against the Chiefs will be winning the turnover battle. And after rookie James Cowser recovered a muffed punt, the Raiders capitalized with a 44-yard Sebastian Janikowski field goal. That not only gave Oakland a 3-0 lead but moved the Raiders' turnover margin to +13 on the season, second to Kansas City's league-leading +14.

Adam Teicher ESPN Staff Writer

That's the first fumble Tyreek Hill lost this season. He had fumbled twice before but the Chiefs recovered each time.

Rajon Rondo was suspended for Monday's game because of a verbal altercation with assistant coach Jim Boylen. Several reports said Rondo threw a towel in Boylen's face, but Rondo wouldn't confirm that detail. Boylen used to serve on Gregg Popovich's staff in San Antonio. Before Thursday's game between the Bulls and Spurs, Popovich was asked if he'd ever take a chance on a great player who had an attitude problem. "As long as he promised ahead of time not to throw a towel at me," Popovich said.

Official kickoff temperature in Kansas City is 21 degrees. Wind chill is 12. Field is in great shape so the weather really shouldn't be an issue.
