Two potential witnesses were in the courtroom for part of the first day of trial Tuesday -- violating the sequestration order in the case -- and North Carolina District Court Judge Ronald Chapman determined their testimony could be influenced by what they saw. No new trial date was set.

Penn State coach James Franklin said he received 348 text messages after his team's upset win against No. 2 Ohio State. He said he basically texted back, "Thanks" or "Thanks, brother. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is on the practice field for the first time since training camp but not in uniform Wednesday as he continues his comeback from a compression fracture in his back. He threw passes during the pat-and-go warmup, took some turns in individual drills and threw passes in routes in air during the open portion of practice to the media. Jason Garrett said Romo will not practice today but he has had some good rehab work over the last few days.

The 10-round middleweight fight between Curtis Stevens (28-5, 21 KOs) and James de la Rosa (23-4, 13 KOs), which was scheduled to be on the untelevised portion of the Sergey Kovalev-Andre Ward HBO PPV card on Nov. 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, has been moved up to the pay-per-view telecast. Main Events and Roc Nation, the co-promoters of the card, each put one fight on the televised undercard and then they were supposed to make a fight matching their boxers for the fourth televised bout. When they were unable to make a fight they could agree on or one that was worthy of being on the pay-per-view, Stevens-de la Rosa, a Main Events match, was bumped up to the telecast.
