The Lakers had referees at practice Friday and they were instructed not to call ticky-tack fouls, but forward Julius Randle was hit in the mouth and began bleeding. He stayed in for the next drill. It's not clear if he'll need stitches. "I think they missed that [foul]," Lakes coach Luke Walton said of the officials. "When another guys is bleeding, it's usually a sign they got fouled."

The Lakers' practices have featured fun competitions under new head coach Luke Walton, including a 3-point shoot-out, one-on-one battles and a home-run pass challenge. " I definitely wasn't expecting that," says point guard D'Angelo Russell. "It feels like you're going back to your roots, going back to high school days and stuff like that, where you're just competing and laughing about it at the same time."

Bills' decision to shut down Sammy Watkins for at least the next eight weeks doesn't come as a huge surprise after Rex Ryan's comment Friday that Watkins' foot has become a "major concern." Bills, however, are now without arguably their best offensive player as new OC Anthony Lynn tries to find his way as play caller.

Stanford heads to Washington tonight in a game that could very well decide the Pac-12 North. Entering this game, the Cardinal and Huskies have a combined 94 percent chance to win the division, according to ESPN's Football Power Index. It doesn't take an advanced statistical projection to figure out that whoever wins this game will be in a great position going forward. FPI favors the Huskies (61 percent chance to win) at home.

It took exactly 10 hours and 1 minute from this morning's start, but Europe finally has its first point on the board, as Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson beat Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed, making nine birdies in a 5 and 4 win.

Every other year for three days, like clockwork, Sergio Garcia inexplicably looks like the world's best putter. His flatstick has been hit again this afternoon, as he and countryman Rafa Cabrera-Bello are 4-up on J.B. Holmes and Ryan Moore with six holes to play.

You always hear about the Yankees doing things first-class. Here's an example: In the visitors' clubhouse, there are four black leather couches, and the middle back pillow on each one has an authentic, embroidered Orioles logo on it. Turns out each middle pillow has a zip-out swatch that allows them to swap out the logos depending on which team is in town. Because of that (and because it's a really swanky room), you'd never know it was the visitors' clubhouse.

Kansas was already bringing three five-star 2017 prospects on official visits this weekend -- and the Jayhawks also added one late in the week. Elite guard Trevon Duval -- the No. 1 guard in 2017 -- told ESPN he's heading to Lawrence this weekend for Late Night in the Phog. Duval hasn't progressed much in his recruitment, but Kansas is certainly involved.

It's currently misty (and tarpy) at Yankee Stadium. Accuweather forecast for Orioles/Yanks calls for a 65% chance of showers at game time, with the threat lingering throughout the evening. The O's have won five of their last six and are now tied with Toronto for the top wild card spot.

Tavon Austin (shoulder) and Kenny Britt (thigh) are officially listed as questionable, though I'd be surprised if either sits. Will Hayes (ankle) is doubtful. Pharoh Cooper, EJ Gaines and Nelson Spruce have no designation because the "probable" classification no longer applies. They'll play. Dominque Easley (illness) also questionable, but he was a full participant today.

Nine holes down and Martin Kaymer has registered a score on exactly zero holes. Danny Willett's back must be hurting from carrying him.
