In Seahawks-Cards tie, Richard Sherman was clear winner

Though the NFC West standings won't reflect it, there has to be a winner declared in every tie. And Sherman was the best player on the field Sunday night, even if he could barely walk after it.

The Boston Celtics held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday at the site of their new practice facility in Brighton, Massachusetts. The new facility will be called The Auerbach Center at New Balance World Headquarters. If you zoom in on the banners in the design you'll notice a 2017 world championship banner hanging to the far right.

With 344 rushing yards and 245 receiving yards through four games, Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is pacing for 2,356 total offensive yards over a full season's work. That would be 73 short of Marshall Faulk's total yards record of 2,429.

Oregon running back Royce Freeman said he was fine after the Ducks' loss to Cal, but he certainly didn't look fine. He rushed the ball 15 times for 10 yards. The junior hasn't really looked like himself since the Nebraska loss (with the exception of the Wazzu game when he rushed for three TDs and 138 yards on 19 carries).

Houston's Kelvin Sampson said the Big 12 expansion chatter turned into an "avalanche" after Cougars beat Oklahoma, and a constant question on the recruiting trail. He added that while no one can tell a league how to run their business, he wishes it had been handled differently.

The Seahawks managed just two field goals on 13 offensive possessions during their 6-6 tie to the Cardinals. Both teams missed chip shot field goals in overtime, seemingly trying to hand the game to each other. This week must be about finding answers on offense. Russell Wilson is clearly still not 100 percent, and the offensive line was shaky. The Seahawks will look to come up with fixes before next week's game against the Saints.

While he doesn't offer it, Wynn sports book director Johnny Avello says he makes the true odds of an NFL game ending in a tie at 275 to 1.

Dan Graziano ESPN Staff Writer

The tie is more of a win for Seattle than it is for Arizona. The Cardinals were a 24-yard field goal away from a third straight win that would have put them a half-game behind the first-place Seahawks and put their season squarely back on track after a 1-3 start. Seattle has to feel like it got away with playing a lousy game and not losing it, and they're still a game and a half up without having played their best. No one feels good, I'm sure, but this is tougher for Arizona.

The Cardinals and Seahawks play to a 6-6 tie on Sunday Night Football. The ViewFromVegas is the Seahawks cover the spread as 2-point road underdogs (money-line bets are a push and subject to refunds). The easiest winning bet in NFL Week 7 was under 43 points in this game.

Russell Wilson has put together 20 game-winning drives in his career, No. 13 in the NFL since 1960. We'll see if he can either tie or win here on this possession.

Today's first game kicked off 14 hours ago. Yes, Rams-Giants happened earlier today. So by all means, let's have (more) bonus football! Overtime in Arizona, here we come!

Sheil Kapadia ESPN Writer

Faced with a 1st and 30 from their own 28, the Seattle Seahawks decided it was time to play for overtime. The offense's only scoring drive in regulation went four plays for zero yards. The two teams ended regulation in a 3-3 tie.

Kevin Seifert NFL Nation

From what I can see on social media, tonight's game confirms that many fans' notion of "good football" equals "lots of scoring.." This has been a great game, six points combined or not. High level of defense played on both sides, and on special teams for Seahawks as well.

Kevin Seifert NFL Nation

This is insane. The Seahawks have faced third-and-25 and third-and-29 in consecutive possessions. The Cardinals are doing to the Seahawks what the Eagles did to the Vikings earlier today: Just crushing them up front.

Sheil Kapadia ESPN Writer

It doesn't look like the Seahawks were able to come up with any answers on offense during halftime. They punted on their first two drives of the third quarter. The defense came up with a huge fourth-down stop, but Russell Wilson and company failed to capitalize.

Mike Clay ESPN Writer

Nearly three quarters into the game, the Seahawks have only run 25 offensive plays. Russell Wilson has been limited to 61 passing yards and Christine Michael has 8 carries for 25 yards. It's been an ugly night at the office for the Seattle offense.

Josh Weinfuss ESPN Staff Writer

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald seems to be spending as much time keeping the peace on the field as he is playing football tonight against Seattle. First, he pulled RT D.J. Humphries out of a scrum and a few plays ago he did the same with WR Michael Floyd, who was hit late after a block and then retaliated with a push.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

The first half of the Seahawks-Cardinals game produced some defensive teaching tape. Just look at the tackling, the pass rush, the technique in the secondary, etc. These two defenses play fast. That starts with eye discipline and formation recognition. Tough to move the ball consistently tonight. Arizona takes a 3-0 lead into the locker room.

Josh Weinfuss ESPN Staff Writer

The Cardinals' defense has looked excellent in the first half, holding the Seahawks to no points but Arizona's offense isn't capitalizing on the defense's prowess, taking just a 3-0 lead at halftime. Seattle has rushed for just 13 yards and Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has thrown for just 34 yards. The Cardinals have turned to David Johnson often during the first half, involving him on 19 of 45 first-half plays.

Josh Weinfuss ESPN Staff Writer

Cardinals RB David Johnson has been involved on 17 of the Cardinals' 36 offensive plays – 12 runs and five catches – in the first half. He was targeted two other times. Heavy, heavy workload for the second-year back.
