Panthers coach Ron Rivera said he still was "entertaining" the idea of playing starters in the first quarter of Thursday night's final preseason game against Pittsburgh. If he plays Cam Newton it will be the first time since the 2011 rookie season of the reigning NFL MVP that he has played in the fourth preseason game. Seems like Rivera might have been entertaining the media with the notion he would break that trend.

Early look at Jets practice: David Harris (shoulder), Brandon Marshall (hip), Mo Wilkerson (leg), Jordan Jenkins (calf) among those not practicing. It's probably precautionary with Marshall and Wilkerson. Also appears that Dee Milliner, Jace Amaro and Kenbrell Thompkins won't practice. No sign of Bruce Carter. Quincy Enunwa, coming off a concussion, is wearing a red jersey.
