Utah and BYU announced they have extended their football series two additional years through the 2022 season. The game will be in Provo in 2021 and Salt Lake City the next year.

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

After Tuesday's game, LeBron James took what seemed to be a subtle dig at Phil Jackson, who traded JR Smith & Iman Shumpert to Cleveland in 2015: "There's a few guys who feel like teams gave up on them in their careers,'' James said. "For them to come here and to prove not only to those people, but to prove to themselves that they are championship-worthy, means a lot to them."

Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess arrived at practice with his face entirely covered. Not sure what was up with that look.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton jogged from the stadium to practice today. It doesn't happen often. He usually rides a golf cart.

Jim Caldwell said Houston QB Brock Osweiler has a "quick release for a big guy." He also said he believes he learned things sitting behind Peyton Manning.

Lions QB Matthew Stafford was named the team's Ed Block Courage Award winner. He played in every game last season but was sacked 44 times last season. Typically, though, the award has gone to a player coming back from a big injury. Stafford did not have that.

Maryland coach Mark Turgeon has agreed to a four-year contract extension, sources told ESPN. Turgeon had three years remaining on his current deal. The new deal runs through 2023.

Ever wondered if penalties correlate to success? Not necessarily. ECU and UConn are tied for 4th fewest (28 flags) in FBS and have a combined one conference win. Ohio State, Utah, and UNC are all in the Top 25 and rank 103rd or worse in total penalties.

Most NFL teams' throwback and alternate uniforms feature a colored jersey. But since 2012, the Bills' wardrobe has included a white 1960s throwback. They'll wear it again this Sunday against the Patriots.

That decision to move up the start time of World Series Game 2 is looking awfully smart as the rain pours down at Progressive Field following tonight's Cubs win.

Tim MacMahon ESPN Staff Writer

Mike Conley on scoring seven of his 24 points in the final few minutes of Memphis' comeback win: "I was frustrated that I let my team down by getting in foul trouble in the first place. I had to get in the game and make up as much as I could."

Charles Moynihan ESPN

A week ago he was taking swings in the Arizona Fall League. Now, he is a ballast in the middle of the Cubs line-up as the World Series shifts to Chicago.

Terry Francona on Kyle Schwarber: "I can see why Theo (Epstein) sent a plane for him. I would too."

With Memphis up by three points late, Mike Conley sinks a deep jumper and seals the victory for the Grizzlies over the Timberwolves. Conley finished with a team-high 24 points.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

The legend of Kyle Schwarber builds, as the slugger drove in two runs on two hits and scored another as the Cubs beat the Indians 5-1 to even the World Series at 1-1. Not bad for a guy playing his second game since early April. Schwarber now has 10 RBI in 11 career postseason games. Jake Arrieta carried a no-hitter into the sixth, while the Cubs had Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer out of the game in the fourth. We're headed to Wrigley Field for three games over the weekend as one team's march towards history continues.

Darren Rovell ESPN Senior Writer

Before tonight's game started, there were 100 tickets to Game 3 at Wrigley on StubHub for under $2,400. There are now 2.

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

People love to kill teams over rain delays, etc., but MLB deserves credit for being proactive in moving this game up an hour tonight.
