Jose Fernandez was a superstar on and off the field. His passion for the game equaled his passion for life. His high energy, passion, attitude and impact for the game will be missed. His love and respect for the game could not be matched. My prayers and condolences to his family, baseball family, friends and fans. May he Rest In Peace. He will be missed

Before kickoff vs. Browns, Dolphins will be holding a moment of silence for former Marlins P Jose Fernandez.

Anything we say in reaction to the news of Jose Fernandez's death seems trivial compared to the magnitude of his loss. He was obviously an amazing pitcher with Hall of Fame potential. But I've been doing this for almost 30 years, and I can only recall a handful of ballplayers who were as naturally vibrant or charismatic. This is just so difficult to understand or accept.

All is quiet around Bank of America Stadium so far amidst reports there could be protests here before the Panthers face the Vikings. Team officials are confident their new security measures will create a safe environment for the players and fans.

Jets WR Brandon Marshall (knee, foot) is expected to be on a snap count against the Chiefs, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. It means he could be limited to third downs and red zone. They could use him as a decoy, hoping he draws coverage away from Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa. It'll also mean more snaps for rookie Jalin Marshall. Weather may not be as much of a factor as initially thought. Any rain (it's sunny now) is expected to stop a few hours before the 4:25 ET kickoff.

Bills WR Sammy Watkins will not play today vs. Cardinals because of lingering foot soreness, source tells ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Watkins had his foot stepped on during a walkthrough practice this week, Rex Ryan said Friday. That's a big blow to new OC Anthony Lynn, whose top wideouts are expected to be Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin and Greg Salas -- and Salas hurt his groin in Thursday's practice.

Washington didn't look like the nation's No. 9 team while slipping Arizona 35-28 in overtime, but that might be a mistaken impression because winning ugly is what good teams do. "We wanted to go through something that was going to be hard," Huskies coach Chris Petersen said. Washington's average margin of victory during its pillow-soft nonconference slate was 49-10. It hadn't trailed all season. So many things went wrong against the Wildcats, including four drives inside Arizona's 30-yard line that netted zero points. Still, the Huskies took Arizona's best shot, got out of their own way and won the game. Said quarterback Jake Browning, "I thought we showed a lot of grit in pushing through that stuff."
