LeBron James, who averages 28.5 career points per game and has two triple-doubles at Madison Square Garden, came off the court after warmup not too long ago pouring sweat, looking focused and rapping along to Jay Z's '99 Problems.' Lucas Giolito rejoins my top 100 starting pitchers following the trade, checking in 93rd. It's a bad park for a pitcher, but his odds of breaking camp in the rotation improved, and he'll have a pitching coach (Don Cooper) who can help him adjust.

Sandy Alderson all but acknowledged the Mets' payroll would go DOWN from where it is now, which he estimated at about $150 million. That's because the outfielder the Mets subtract, making $13 million to $15 million, probably won't be fully reinvested in the bullpen. Alderson said the primary motivation, though, is not decreasing the payroll. It's more about having an outfield that has pieces that fit better playing-time-wise. The Mets, right now, are heavy in corner outfielders at the expense of center fielders.
