Rory McIlroy dropping some great one-liners in his Ryder Cup press conference just now. -- "I bowed to them, said you're welcome for the show," after sinking an eagle putt to close out his four-ball win Friday afternoon. -- "I thought about the celebration before I hit the (eagle) putt," that sealed his four-ball victory. As usual, a very open and honest McIlroy. Team USA 5, Team Europe 3.

Which Ryan Burns will we get tonight: The Stanford QB who passed for 71 yards in 58 minutes last week, or the one who scorched UCLA for 66 yards on the last drive? Much of the answer will depend on the Cardinal's coaching staff calling the plays.

Washington fan Roger Anderson's RV celebrates the Huskies many Rose Bowl berths. You might notice that it's been a while since he added a leaf to his rose (2001). Thus the hope of taking a step toward that tonight against Stanford.

Tonight's game may be a referendum on what kind of schedule to play in September. No. 7 Stanford has beaten three Power 5 teams -- Kansas State, USC and UCLA. No. 10 Washington has opened with Rutgers, Idaho, FCS Portland St., and Arizona. That foursome is a collective 3-8 against FBS opponents, 0-6 vs. Power 5 teams.

Pregame at Husky Stadium and it certainly is the best view from a press box that I've ever seen. Lake Washington to the right, UW's campus to the left.

Ryan Moore tried to keep himself and J.B. Holmes in their fourballs match, but it proved too little, too late. Sergio Garcia -- who often looks like world's best putter at this event and this event alone -- rolled in five birdies to team with countryman Rafa Cabrera-Bello for the 3 and 2 victory.

The Lakers had referees at practice Friday and they were instructed not to call ticky-tack fouls, but forward Julius Randle was hit in the mouth and began bleeding. He stayed in for the next drill. It's not clear if he'll need stitches. "I think they missed that [foul]," Lakes coach Luke Walton said of the officials. "When another guys is bleeding, it's usually a sign they got fouled."

The Lakers' practices have featured fun competitions under new head coach Luke Walton, including a 3-point shoot-out, one-on-one battles and a home-run pass challenge. " I definitely wasn't expecting that," says point guard D'Angelo Russell. "It feels like you're going back to your roots, going back to high school days and stuff like that, where you're just competing and laughing about it at the same time."

Bills' decision to shut down Sammy Watkins for at least the next eight weeks doesn't come as a huge surprise after Rex Ryan's comment Friday that Watkins' foot has become a "major concern."
