LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska junior quarterback Eric Crouch was expected to undergo surgery Thursday on his sore throwing shoulder.

Crouch and Dr. Robert Dugas, one of Nebraska's team physicians, met with surgeon Dr. Jim Andrews of the Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday for an evaluation.

Doctors determined that Crouch would have arthoscopic surgery, the university said.

Andrews will perform the surgery and Dugas will assist.

Crouch's status for spring ball will not be determined until after the surgery, the university said.

Crouch also had surgery on his throwing shoulder after the 1999-2000 season.

Crouch, who was pounded repeatedly this season, admitted before the Alamo Bowl that his shoulder was still store.
