Melissa Stark returns to ABC Sports for her third season as a reporter for ABC's NFL "Monday Night Football." She joins the broadcast team of Al Michaels and John Madden.
In addition to her work on "Monday Night Football", Stark has also reported on ABC Sports figure skating and golf coverage including her role as reporter for ABC's primetime "Battle at Bighorn."
Stark joined ESPN in the fall of 1996 to host "Scholastic Sports America," the network's weekly program devoted to high school athletics. More recently she has been an ESPN "SportsCenter" correspondent and a regular contributor to "Sunday NFL Countdown" and "Monday Night Countdown," providing features and game coverage. Additionally, at ESPN she covered the NBA Playoffs, Major League Baseball playoffs and U.S. Open golf, and she has provided reports and features for the Emmy Award-winning series "Outside the Lines."
Prior to joining ESPN, Stark worked one year (1995-96) at Home Team Sports, a regional sports network in the Baltimore/Washington, DC, area. She served as a producer/reporter, covering the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, Washington Bullets, Washington Capitals and the Washington Redskins.
While attending the University of Virginia, Stark worked two summers for the "CBS Evening News" in New York on the medical news unit. She was also a producer/reporter for the school's syndicated football and basketball coaches' shows. A Phi Beta Kappa student, she graduated in 1995 with a double major in foreign affairs and Spanish.
Stark, a native of Baltimore, is married to Michael Lilly and resides in New Jersey.
