After months of planning, the second stop of the 2011-2012 Subaru Freeskiing World Tour, scheduled to take place at Valle Nevado, Chile, from Aug. 18-21, has been relocated to a backcountry venue at Ski Arpa, Chile's only cat-skiing outfitter, located two hours from Santiago. Forty-five athletes are already signed up to compete in the two-day contest.

"We're really excited to hold our second stop at Ski Arpa, one of the longest and most remote venues we've ever used on the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour," said competition director Bryan Barlow.

An email sent out last Friday to Freeskiing World Tour athletes said that Valle Nevado has decided not to host the event.

"We worked hard for many months to confirm this event, and we're disappointed by this decision on [Valle Nevado's] behalf," Sara Waldman, spokesperson for the FWT, told ESPN on Friday. "There were some logistical issues with the resort."

Stop one of the FWT will be an invite-only competition at Las LeƱas, Argentina, from Aug. 9-12.
