Burr Ridge, Ill. (June 3, 2009) The best talent in BMX will be coming out for the first ever BMX-only stop on the Dew Tour, the world's premier season-long action sports tour. The 2009 season kicks off with the Nike 6.0 BMX Open in Chicago's Grant Park, June 26-27, adjacent to the Taste of Chicago. The schedule of events features BMX park, vert and dirt disciplines, along with a Nike 6.0 street specialty competition.
Over 200 of the best BMX athletes in the world will be in Chicago to compete in the two-day competition, including four-time Dew Cup champion Jamie Bestwick (BMX Vert), 2008 BMX Dirt Dew Cup champion Cameron White, 18-year-old rising star Dennis Enarson (BMX Park and Dirt), and BMX legends Dave Mirra (BMX Park) and Ryan Nyquist (BMX Park and Dirt).
"We are thrilled to bring the Dew Tour to Chicago for the first time in its five year history for the Nike 6.0 BMX Open," said Chris Prybylo, General Manager of the Dew Tour. "The lineup of athletes promises to deliver stellar BMX competitions, and it's the perfect way to introduce the Dew Tour to this city."
Athletes are pre-qualified based on their rankings at the end of the 2008 Dew Tour season. Additionally one-two wild cards per discipline have been selected. Athletes who are not pre-qualified may compete as Open Qualifiers at the Nike 6.0 BMX Open to earn a spot in the preliminary rounds.
