On Tuesday, defending X Games RallyCross and Rally Car Racing champ Tanner Foust parallel drift-parked his X Games 17 Ford Fiesta rally car between two taxis on 53rd Street outside of the 'Late Show with David Letterman' studio at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York. Later he took actress Julianne Moore for a spin, literally, doing donuts on 53rd Street.
"That was way cooler than I expected," reports Late Show writer Michael McIntee. "Afterwards, Julianne hurled like a pre-teen skateboarder."
Letterman himself was more focused on Foust's 2011 Ford Fiesta. "I'm telling you, I want that car," Letterman quipped. "I'd drink a case of that Rockstar crap every day for the rest of my life if I get a car."
Foust has made the X Games podium every year since 2007, winning gold in 2007 and double gold in 2010, and he's been on a tear this year with rallycross wins at the Höljesbanan in Höljes, Sweden; Pista Automóvel de Montalegre in Montalegre, Portugal; and Global RallyCross (GRC) events in Colorado Springs, Colo. and Snoqualmie, Wash. He may be even better known for his TV stunts -- Foust pushed the "Longest Jump in a Four-Wheeled Vehicle" world record to 332 feet in May at the Indy 500 -- and for his roles on 'Top Gear USA' and 'Battle of the SuperCars.'
Watch for him this weekend in the Rally Car Racing final on Saturday (4 p.m. ET) and the RallyCross final on Sunday (5 p.m. ET).
