The V Foundation for Cancer Research and Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) will once again unite to host the Winter X Games 14 Kick-Off Bash Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 5- 8 p.m. in the Aspen Room and Fountain Courtyard at the St. Regis Hotel in downtown Aspen. After last year's successful fundraising efforts, this one-of-a-kind charity event will return as a family-friendly experience where guests will be able to mix and mingle with Winter X Games 14 and Olympic athletes including Hana Beaman, Spencer O'Brien, Tucker Hibbert, Tom Wallisch and Sammy Carlson, enjoy musical performances by Hip Hop Artist and Winter X Games talent Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian, Mick Kelleher of MK & the Gentlemen and others, partake in a silent auction filled with unique memorabilia, enjoy fireside food, drinks and much more.
In addition to the event, during X Games coverage on media and onsite, ESPN will be carrying public service announcements and messaging from commentators and X athletes in support of the Save the Children organization's disaster-relief efforts in Haiti.
"ESPN and our premiere charity, The V Foundation for Cancer Research, are pleased to join again with Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) to raise awareness for cancer research at the Winter X Games," said Rachel Mack, director, corporate outreach, ESPN. "Without our sponsors we would not be able to make this happen on this scale, and we look forward to continuing our outreach together."
"We are thrilled that the X Games athletes have embraced our mission," said V Foundation CEO Nick Valvano. "This is an exciting opportunity for us to connect with young people and raise funds for cancer research. Once again, we are humbled by ESPN's support of The V Foundation."
Justine Chiara, executive director, Boarding for Breast Cancer, said, "Teaming with The V Foundation onsite at the Winter X Games is a powerful way to outreach to a broad demographic. This joint fundraiser is a great opportunity to expand our reach beyond the mountain and into the Aspen community. I'm honored to have this partnership with another cancer research-supporting organization that shares a similar approach to education as B4BC."
