Wednesday practice update

The power outages taking place in the area hit the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Frisco around noon today, cutting practice a little short for the Dallas Stars. They had already been on the ice for about an hour, so I believe they got most of their work done.

Defenseman Mark Fistric, who missed last night's game due to illness, was on the ice today.

"He had a little bit of flu-like symptoms," said Stars coach Marc Crawford. "I think he'll get stronger with each day, so he'll be a possibility for us tomorrow night."

As for the team's other injuries, Crawford had this to say:

"We're getting healthier. It looks like Tom Wandell (shoulder) should be ready for next week," Crawford said. "We're not going to bring him with us. That's more a precaution from us. You get tempted to put him in the lineup. We've got to be cautious with him right now, let him have these three days off and then we don't play for three days. It gives him a week to really heal up."

"Jamie Benn (shoulder) is going to be at least a week. We're hopeful that he'll improve this week. The good news on Toby Petersen (leg) is he really is starting to head in the right direction, so we're seeing very good improvements on him."

With Wandell being placed on IR, the Stars recalled right wing Ray Sawada from the Texas Stars today. He was not at this morning's practice, or at least I didn't see him.

Crawford said his goaltending plan is that Andrew Raycroft will start in goal tomorrow in Boston and that Kari Lehtonen will get the start Saturday in Philadelphia.
