Fresh faces: North Carolina

Now that media days are over, we return to the Fresh Faces series, with three players from UNC who have a chance to make names for themselves this fall:

RB Giovani Bernard: ESPN.com rated him the No. 16 running back in the country, and he rushed for 1,528 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior at St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida, where he was regarded as one of the top backs in the state. His older brother, Yvenson, was an all-conference tailback at Oregon State and is currently in the CFL.

OT James Hurst: He enrolled early and is regarded by many as one of the top offensive linemen in his class. He was a member of the ESPNU 150 and was the MVP of the U.S. Army Junior National Combine. He had a great spring and will compete for the left tackle spot this summer. His brother is sophomore tight end Nelson Hurst.

LB Darius Lipford: He had a sack and a forced fumble in North Carolina's Shrine Bowl, and ESPN.com rated him the No. 39 outside linebacker in his class. It won't be easy for young linebackers to see playing time this fall, but Lipford comes in as one of the top players in the state.
