UVA is reminding me of BC's performance against USC last year in the Emerald Bowl. The Eagles played an inspired game, and clearly weren't daunted by the atmosphere, but made too many mistakes to stay in the game.
Virginia has kept USC out of the end zone and for the most part outplayed the Trojans, but they're beating themselves with mistakes. There was the interception in the end zone, the missed field goal, and a roughing the kicker penalty. It's only a matter of time before those things add up, and it has to be driving Mike London crazy because his unheralded team could have the lead right now -- especially the way USC is racking up the penalties. The latest just cost USC a touchdown. The score is 0-0 midway through the second quarter.
