Report: Chase Rettig to start at QB for BC

Freshman Chase Rettig is expected to start on Saturday against Notre Dame, according to the Boston Globe.

This had to be a tough decision for coach Frank Spaziani, as the staff would have preferred to redshirt Rettig and bring him along slowly, but it was a necessary move and a good call. Quarterback Dave Shinskie and backup Mike Marscovetra hadn't shown enough improvement, leaving the staff no choice but to start playing for the future.

The Eagles have back-to-back road trips coming up against Atlantic Division opponents NC State and Florida State. This is the last nonconference game until the season finale against Syracuse to get Rettig some much needed experience. Rettig comes in with high accolades, but every freshman must go through a learning curve. Expect a bumpy ride for the Eagles this fall.
