Miami recruiting analysis

The class

Recruits: 16

Top prospects: Four-star defensive end Anthony Chickillo, four-star athlete Kevin Grooms and four-star cornerback Dallas Crawford are all members of the ESPNU 150 and ranked among the top 10 in the country at their respective positions.

Needs met: The biggest need -- quarterback -- hasn’t been met. Yet. The Canes needed to add depth at defensive end and did that with four in this class. Linebacker was also a priority and Miami signed four. Miami also added two receivers.

Analysis: This is a solid class and an impressive one considering the short amount of time coach Al Golden and his staff had to assemble it. With only two players who honored their commitments to the previous staff, Golden had to scramble, and he managed to change the minds of eight players who were committed to other programs. This class is still missing a quarterback, but a scholarship has been reserved should the right one come along.
