Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, the nation's No. 1 recruit, has chosen to play for South Carolina instead of Clemson.
While it's disappointing news for Clemson and its fans -- Clowney would have undoubtedly made the Tigers' defensive line even better -- it wasn't a make-or-break decision for this already outstanding class. Clowney would have been a bonus, but his decision to play for South Carolina shouldn't take anything away from what is still one of the 10 best recruiting classes in the nation. With seven commitments from players ranked among the ESPNU 150, it was an impressive recruiting effort by coach Dabo Swinney and his staff, and they didn't need Clowney's signature to validate that.
