Duke defensive tackle out indefinitely

This just in from Duke's sports information office:

Duke redshirt senior defensive tackle Kinney Rucker is out of action indefinitely due to an injured foot. Rucker underwent surgery performed by Dr. Mark Easley last month to repair a torn plantar plate in his right foot.

"At this point, we don't have a timetable set for Kinney's return," Duke coach David Cutcliffe said. "We'll continue to monitor his progress and evaluate the options as his health improves. We're certainly fortunate that we have the best medical care right here at Duke University."

A native of Durham, N.C., Rucker has seen action in all 24 games with four starting assignments over the past two seasons. In 2007, he posted 28 tackles with six tackles for loss and four quarterback sacks and last year registered 21 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Rucker, who did not see action in either 2005 or 2006, was expected to enter the 2009 season as the top reserve at defensive tackle behind returning starter Vince Oghobaase.
