Convicted Ponzi schemer and former Miami booster Nevin Shapiro has told Yahoo! Sports he provided impermissible benefits to at least 72 University of Miami athletes, most of whom were involved with the football program.
Sorry for the delay in addressing this on the blog, but I was on a two-hour plane ride to, well, Miami.
Yes, the credibility of Shapiro is questionable, but these allegations are damning. The Yahoo! Sports report was thorough and could lead to serious sanctions for the program. There are far more questions than there are answers at this point, though, so stay tuned.
