ACC won't speculate on future without Miami

With the death penalty a possibility for Miami's football program in light of the recent allegations, it's only natural to wonder what the ACC would look like without the Hurricanes for a year or two, or however long that would be.

The ACC, though, isn't ready to speculate on how the conference would move forward if need be without Miami, whether it's looking to another program for temporary help, or trying to move on with the existing 11.

League officials told me recently that it's premature and speculative at this point.

I agree, and while the death penalty has been a topic of discussion, my gut feeling is that the NCAA won't go there, and this is a question the ACC won't have to answer. It was worth asking, though, especially because you guys filled my mailbag with it last week.
