More Miami players suspended

Seven players, including starting quarterback Robert Marve, have been suspended for the Hurricanes' season opener on Thursday against Charleston Southern.

Miami released the names of the suspended players:

None of these guys are returning starters, and Berry and Houston likely would have played sparingly as backups or on special teams. Ojomo and Phillips would have had the most significant roles.

The school did not say why these guys were suspended, but given Randy Shannon's comments following practice, it could have been for something as simple as missing study hall:

"Like I said before when I took the job at the University of Miami, we hold old everybody to higher standards than most teams in the country," Shannon told reporters following practice, according to the Miami Herald. "We have our rules and regulations, as far as curfew, study hall, and doing the right things in the classroom. We won't be having a few guys attending the game for those reasons and we'll move forward."

Clearly Shannon is sending a message this season, and everyone from his starting quarterback to his long snapper is getting it.
