This is not the kind of start Wake Forest was probably expecting, and with good reason. Maryland's defense had been, well, atrocious for most of this season, and suddenly the Terps are coming up with big hits and critical stops. Maryland's running game has also fared well so far, and quarterback C.J. Brown has played a respectable half while injured starter Danny O'Brien is watching the game in his room in College Park.
Wake Forest was hoping to close the ACC schedule by becoming bowl eligible today, but it's clear the Terps are going to make the Deacs earn it. Both teams have made mistakes in this game, but Maryland deserves credit for not giving up, despite a 2-8 record and a six-game losing streak. In a game this close, turnovers could be the difference in the second half.
