Dave Hooker of ESPN Recruiting reviews Thursday night's Under Armour All-America Game, which included a special performance from an FSU commit.
White team quarterback Jameis Winston [completed] eight of nine passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns despite strong pressure that resulted in three sacks.
Winston said a pregame conversation with Carolina Panthers quarterback Cameron Newton helped inspire him.
"He said, 'Show me something out there,' so I went out there and showed him something," said Winston, who is often called "Baby Cam."
Winston, however, declined to take too much credit for his team's performance.
"I think I had a pretty good day but our defense had a great day," the Florida State commitment said. "They really got us going. We got up real early. If you let a bunch of athletes get up, it's hard to bring them down."
It was an interesting week for Winston, who finished the week much better than he started.
"As you get closer to game time," he said, "that's when I start stepping up a little bit."
