Virginia is expected to land the top quarterback prospect from the Class of 2010.
Former Alabama signal caller Phillip Sims told the Cavaliers' staff that he will enroll in Charlottesville, a source told our Joe Schad. Sims announced Friday he would be transferring and was looking to return closer to his home of Chesapeake, Va. Sims would need a waiver from the NCAA citing a family situation in order to avoid sitting out the 2012 season.
Virginia returns junior starter Michael Rocco this season. Three-star sophomore David Watford and three-star early enrollee Greyson Lambert will be on the roster following the 2012 season. Three-star 2012 quarterback Matt Johns will soon be on campus as well.
Sims lost the Crimson Tide's starting job as a redshirt freshman in 2011 to AJ McCarron after a battle that lasted into the first few weeks of the season. He completed 64 percent of his passes with no touchdowns and two picks. From Oscar Frommel Smith High School, Sims was the No. 32 overall prospect in the Class of 2010.
