Wrapping up the late ACC games

Andrea Adelson has you covered from Atlanta and David Hale had the FSU game tonight. Here are a few thoughts on the rest of the night in the ACC:

Duke 46, FIU 26: This was a major step forward for Duke -- one step closer to bowl eligiblity. Say what you want about FIU, but the Golden Panthers have been to back-to-back bowl games while Duke lost its opener to Richmond last year. Duke looked like a different team in its opener this year -- a much more confident team. That's not to say there's not room for improvement. Duke struggled on third downs and had two turnovers, but it got it done and it's a win the program can take pride in.

Wake Forest 20, Liberty 17: Is THIS the team that came within a field goal of winning the Atlantic Division last year? The Deacs were fortunate to escape this one with a win. Wake Forest's offensive line, which had to replace four starters, was shaky and the Deacs fell behind early. Quarterback Tanner Price wasn't on his A-game, and his streak of 181 passes without an interception was snapped. Wake Forest is going to have to get better quickly, as UNC is coming to town next week, followed by a trip to Florida State.

Final thought: Duke, Wake Forest and North Carolina all found a way to win. NC State? It starts the season trailing in the unofficial "state championship" race.
