Duke and NC Central on Thursday announced four future dates for the Bull City Gridiron Classic football series. The Blue Devils and Eagles, who will meet this Saturday at 7 p.m. ET, are scheduled to play again in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 at Duke’s Wallace Wade Stadium.
From the release:
“Without question, our continuing football series with N.C. Central -- the Bull City Gridiron Classic -- underscores an exciting relationship for both institutions and the greater Durham community,” Duke athletic director Kevin White said in a prepared statement. “Bringing the two campuses together in this fashion has tremendous value, and we are just thrilled to participate in this meaningful partnership. We look forward to many more years of exciting football with our Durham neighbors.”
Separated in Durham by approximately three miles, Duke and NCCU have met just once in football. The Blue Devils posted a 49-14 victory on September 26, 2009 at Wallace Wade Stadium as quarterback Thaddeus Lewis threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third score. Durham native Desmond Scott, in his collegiate debut for Duke, rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown.
