Now that we have turned the page to October, it is time to take a look at some of the best games this month.
Right now, it appears as if Oct. 20 could be a huge weekend, with Florida State playing at Miami; Virginia Tech traveling to Clemson; and North Carolina going to Duke.
Heather and I narrowed this poll down to the Top 5 games. Take a look at our choices and make your voice heard.
Miami vs. Notre Dame, Oct. 6. The Cardiac Canes have pulled out two pretty remarkable comeback wins but now they face their biggest test since hitting the road in Week 2 and losing badly to Kansas State. If Miami can pull the upset, both the program and the league would gain mightily. Plus, this was a pretty great rivalry in the 1980s and it's great to see the teams playing again.
Florida State at NC State, Oct. 6. The Seminoles are riding high as the No. 3 team in the nation but they have to keep their focus now that they are playing their first game outside the state of Florida this season. NC State beat the ranked Seminoles 28-24 the last time they played in Raleigh. In fact, the last six times NC State has played a ranked FSU team, the Pack won four times.
Virginia Tech at Clemson, Oct. 20. The Hokies are down right now but their two losses both came in nonconference play so they are still very much in play in the Coastal Division. They have two tough ACC games against North Carolina and Duke before hitting the road to play the Tigers, a team they lost two twice last season -- including the ACC championship game. Virginia Tech had won the five previous meetings between the two.
Florida State at Miami, Oct. 20. One of the best rivalries in college football could be huge this season, given the way Florida State and Miami are playing right now. Miami is 3-0 in ACC play and gets North Carolina at home before hosting the Seminoles. Florida State has won three of the last four meetings, but 10 of the last 11 games have been decided by a touchdown or less.
NC State at North Carolina, Oct. 27. This is a huge game in the state of North Carolina and for the ACC. NC State has won five straight in the series. Last year was a particular low point for the Tar Heels, as they were shut out for the first time since 2006.
