The 2013 Atlantic Division race should be another arm-wrestling match between Clemson and Florida State for the division title, and the winner of that game should also be heavily favored to win the ACC championship next year.
It will be interesting to see which team takes the lead in the preseaon polls this year. Florida State beat Clemson head-to-head last season, but the Tigers looked better in their bowl game. FSU slogged its way through the first three quarters of a 31-10 win over Northern Illinois in the Discover Orange Bowl, and Clemson shocked many with a 25-24 win over LSU in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Both Atlantic Division leaders have outstanding recruits coming in, and both have elite draft-eligible players who have tough decisions to make. To me, if Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd returns, there's no doubt the Tigers will be the ACC's national title contender in 2013. One of the biggest storylines in the ACC this offseason will be the competition to replace EJ Manuel at quarterback for Florida State.
I thought this year was Florida State's best shot at a national title. Clemson gets my vote for the ACC's 2013 national title contender. Which team gets yours?
