Virginia Tech cornerback Antone Exum announced Wednesday that he will return for his senior season, which is great news for a Hokies defense that returns a majority of its starters.
Exum excelled in his move from safety to cornerback this past season, earning second-team All-ACC honors. He had one of his best performances in the 13-10 overtime win over Rutgers in the Russell Athletic Bowl. His interception in the fourth quarter allowed Virginia Tech to come back and win, earning him game MVP honors.
He finished the season with five interceptions, 16 pass breakups and two forced fumbles, and should be one of the best cornerbacks in the ACC in 2013. Virginia Tech returns nine starters on a defense that improved significantly in the second half of the season, giving the Hokies a huge chance to get back to their dominating ways on that side of the ball.
