Virginia and Boise State will play a two-game series in 2015 and 2017, the schools announced on Monday. The teams are scheduled to meet Sept. 26, 2015, in Charlottesville, Va., and Sept. 23, 2017, in Boise, Idaho.
“We’re excited to announce this series with a program that has been exceptional over the last decade,” Virginia Executive Associate Athletics Director Jon Oliver said in the release. “They’ve done it with great coaching, solid recruiting and a fearless approach to competition. We are trying to do the same thing and this will be an incredible challenge for us as we continue to build our program. The 2015 and 2017 seasons could end up being two of the toughest schedules in the history of our football program and we hope they will excite and energize our fans, student-athletes and recruits.”
The Broncos have won nine conference titles since 2002. Over that nine-year period, the Broncos have produced a record of 129-15 (.896), appeared in 11 consecutive bowl games and won seven of them.
Boise State coach Chris Petersen is 84-8 since taking over the program in 2006.
This will be the first meeting between Virginia and Boise State in football.
