Looking ahead: Miami

The Hurricanes are in the driver's seat in the Coastal Division, and if it ended today, they’d be the division champs. But it’s far from over, as three road trips remain, including the season finale at South Florida. The Bulls will give the Canes the most problems of any of their remaining opponents, but an upset can happen as soon as this weekend against Clemson. The Tigers are the only team left that can match the Hurricanes in speed and talent, but Miami will still be favored in all of its remaining games and could string together an 11-win season in Randy Shannon’s third year.

Best case scenario: The Canes win out and represent the Coastal Division in the ACC championship game.

Worst case scenario: Miami loses to Clemson this weekend, drops in the BCS standings, and is replaced by Georgia Tech as the ACC’s highest ranked team. For the second straight year, the Canes lose their division lead.

Prediction: Randy Shannon gets his contract extension and the Hurricanes head to the Orange Bowl.
