In his first public comments since he was charged with a felony malicious wounding charge this past weekend, Virginia Tech running back Michael Holmes spoke out on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon:
@MHolmesRB20: To all the people who care and know me, thanks for being here for me in this situation....
It hurts to know that people really think I'm out here fighting everyone and don't know what really happened. I'd never do some things said
Holmes, 19, was arrested after police were called to a fight about 1:50 a.m. Sunday. He also faces two misdemeanor assault and battery charges as a result of the incident, which began as an altercation between two women, according to The Associated Press.
Holmes was released from a Montgomery County (Va.) jail late Tuesday morning after posting a $2,500 bond, according to The Washington Post.
Holmes has been suspended from the team, per university policy regarding felony charges. If he is convicted, he will be dismissed.
