Tajh Boyd takes lead in Heisman Watch

Clemson fans have to be floating today.

They've got the No. 4 team in the nation, and they've got the early leader in the Heisman race.

Yes, this is the ACC blog, not the SEC blog. What a difference one game can make.

Quarterback Tajh Boyd finished with five total touchdowns in the 38-35 upset of then-ranked No. 5 Georgia, including 270 yards passing and 42 yards rushing with no turnovers.

Here's how I voted this week for ESPN.com:

1. Tajh Boyd

2. Teddy Bridgewater

3. Marcus Mariota

4. Todd Gurley

5. Braxton Miller

This is the second straight week I have not included Johnny Manziel in my voting. Why? Character counts.

Boyd isn't the ACC's only Heisman hopeful. After a dazzling performance in his collegiate debut, Florida State's Jameis Winston also cracked the Watch List, ranking No. 7, ahead of Gurley. What a spectacular performance by a redshirt freshman. Clemson's Sammy Watkins and Miami's Duke Johnson also got some votes.

One thing is for sure: The ACC has its share of playmakers this fall, and more than one Heisman hopeful.
